Hair Oil

Will Hair Oil weigh down fine hair?

Not at all. Hair Oil is formulated with a lightweight blend of eight essential oils so it won't weigh down fine hair (or any other type of hair). If you usually stay away from hair oils, give this one a try—you will see and feel the difference instantly!
Should Hair Oil be used on damp hair or on dry hair?

Yes and yes. Apply Hair Oil when your hair is damp to either define your natural texture while air-drying or get a flawless, frictionless blow-dry. Hair Oil can also be used on dry hair to smooth frizz or flyaways, seal ends and add extra shine.
Does Hair Oil contain silicone?

Hair Oil contains a single D2, water-soluble silicone called dimethicone to meet our performance standards for shine (high) and weight (low). Not all silicones are created equal. There are different classes of silicones, with a low or high molecular weight. This distinction is important when understanding silicones, in particular dimethicone. Dimethicone is an inert and non-toxic compound that softens hair and contributes to easier spreading and application. (It's used in many skincare products, too, because it's non-comedogenic.) It has a low molecular weight, which means that rather than having an occlusive effect and creating a barrier, it acts more like an emollient, helping to restore the natural barrier function.
The silicone substitutes Hair Oil contains include isodecane to protect from moisture loss, Ecocert-certified coconut alkanes (with similar light-reflecting properties to silicone) and heptyl undecylenate derived from castor oil.
Will Hair Oil make my hair greasy?

Hair Oil is formulated to penetrate hair strands, not simply coat the surface. As long as you use the right amount—just a few drops at a time—it will be easily absorbed.

Hair Balm

Is the Hair Balm refill pouch recyclable?

Yes, this pouch is made with linear low-density polyethylene (LLDPE) and is fully recyclable under classification #1 (polyethylene terephthalate, or PET).
I have curly, frizzy hair. Will Hair Balm work for me?

Yes! Hair Balm gives curls and waves instant definition and adds moisture to smooth frizz, all without weighing hair down.
Is Hair Balm simple to use?

Yes! Hair Balm is a one-step styling routine: just wash, apply and air-dry. You can use it solo to enhance your natural texture or layer it with other Hairstory styling products.

Powder

How is this product different from traditional dry shampoo?

Powder does not contain talc and is not an aerosol spray. Plus our specialized formula gives Powder grip, so it works as a dry shampoo, volumizer, texturizer and styling tool.
Who is Powder best for?

Everyone can use Powder! It is dual-purpose; fantastic at absorbing oil between washes, and impressive at creating volume, body and texture.
