My hair feels dry or brittle since switching. What's happening?

Dryness and brittleness in the first few weeks is often silicone washout - and it's actually a good sign, even though it doesn't feel like one. Most conventional products contain silicones that coat the outside of the hair and mask its condition. When you switch to detergent-free cleansing, silicones begin washing out - a process that can take several weeks - and the underlying state of the hair becomes visible. It passes. In the meantime: use New Wash as a mask (apply, leave in for 10-20 minutes before rinsing). Add Hair Balm as a leave-in conditioner to add moisture without silicones. If dryness persists after the adjustment period, New Wash Rich may be a better formula fit.
