This Fall, Hairstory sponsored celebrity hairstylist Ericka Verrett's looks at The 2026 Academy Museum Gala. The Academy Museum is the largest museum in the world dedicated to global cinema and the art of moviemaking.

From Sophie Thatcher's lived-in shag to Clairo's modern '70s waves, here is a break-down of how celebrity hairstylist, Ericka Verrett, achieved the look.
Get Sophie Thatcher's look per Verrett's step-by-step routine:

- Cleanse with Hairstory New Wash.
- Spray Primer throughout the hair.
- Rough dry hair then then use a 1.25" iron to add soft undulated bends throughout the hair.
- Work Hair Balm through the hair to add texture and definition. Spritz Undressed, a salt-free texture spray, through mids and ends to bring texture back in, like a mermaid who rose from the sea.
The result: A modern French, undone Renaissance princess with soft movement and a slightly lived-in finish.
Get Clairo's look per Verrett's step-by-step routine:

The look: touchable, glossy, and full of movement.
- On damp hair, mist Primer throughout the hair, focusing on the mid-lengths and ends. Comb through evenly to help smooth, moisturize, and protect the hair before styling.
- Styling Gel with a few drops of Oil in your palms. Work through the mid-lengths and ends to control frizz, enhance shine, and keep the hair soft. Blowdry smooth.
- Using a 1" curling iron, wrap sections around the barrel starting at mids, and loosely wrap through the ends, rolling everything towards the face.
- Once the hair has cooled, gently brush through the waves to soften them and create that effortless, flowing finish.
The result: A sleek, smooth crown with soft, undone waves at the bottom—a modern take on ’70s hair with beautiful shine and movement
