• How do I use Bond Serum?

  1. Start with clean, damp hair. 
  2. Shake the bottle before using and apply to the most damaged areas of your hair, then work through from roots to tips. Use a dime-size amount for fine hair and quarter-size for thicker hair, adding more if needed. Do not rinse out. 
  3. Let it sit and penetrate your hair before continuing with your regular styling routine

• Does Bond Serum work on all three types of hair bonds?

  Yes! ProTarget Technology™ targets hydrogen, salt and disulfide bonds in the hair by addressing the moisture, pH balance and structural integrity. This promotes an overall healthy appearance and manageability of the hair.

  Hydrogen bonds are formed between the hydrogen atoms of one amino acid and the electronegative oxygen of another; they are typically affected by water and heat temporarily. Hydrating ingredients in Bond Serum that attract moisture to the hair include panthenol, betaine, glycerin and propanediol.

  Salt bonds are formed by the negative and positive charged portions of the amino acids in the hair; they are the most stable, at an acidic to neutral pH. Bond Serum is formulated at an effective pH and buffered with citric acid to maintain the natural pH of healthy hair to stabilize these bonds.

  Disulfide bonds are formed between cysteine amino acids and are the strongest bonds in the hair. They contribute significantly to the hair’s structural integrity and strength. Disulfide bonds are affected by using products with an acidic pH to prevent swelling and damage that can occur at higher pH levels, and ProTarget Technology™ helps repair and maintain these important bonds.

• Does Bond Serum pose a risk of protein overload?

  No. Protein overload is caused by products that contain a large amount of hair protein in their formula. Bond Boost contains only <1% arginine in its formula to synergistically work with other actives to strengthen the hair, decrease hair breakage, minimize hair loss, moisturize and (for those who color their hair) protect from the damaging effects of bleach.

• Does Bond Serum protect hair against heat?

  Yes! Bond Serum offers heat protection up to 450°F.

• Can Bond Serum and Bond Boost for New Wash be used together?

  Yes, we recommend using Bond Serum and Bond Boost together, as Bond Boost contains ingredients designed to interact with and repair damaged hair bonds. Through a combination of surface preparation, conditioning and moisturization, Bond Boost primes the hair to better receive the active ingredients in Bond Serum, ensuring a more thorough repair approach. As a result, when Bond Serum is applied after cleansing with Bond Boost, its reparative components may have an enhanced ability to penetrate the hair shaft.
