Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the difference between New Wash Original, Rich, and Deep?New Wash (Original) is a balanced formula — the 'Goldilocks' option — for people who get slightly oily but wouldn't consider themselves a greasy person, and whose hair benefits from some conditioning. New Wash (Rich) is designed for clients with dry, thirsty hair who are always reaching for masks and treatments. New Wash (Deep) is formulated for clients with oilier scalps who wash frequently and need a stronger cleansing boost. All three formulas are 100% detergent-free.
-
How do you use New Wash? What is the ASMR method? The ASMR method stands for Apply, Splash, Massage, and Rinse. Apply New Wash generously to the scalp and run it all the way down the hair strand, similar to applying a hair mask. Add a splash of water to emulsify the product and make it milky. Then massage vigorously — using a scalp brush is recommended — before rinsing thoroughly to remove all product from the scalp and hair.
-
How much New Wash should I use per wash?A good general guideline is to combine the amount of shampoo and conditioner you would normally use in one hand — that quantity should be enough to coat both the scalp and the length of the hair. New Wash replaces both shampoo and conditioner, so the total amount used will typically be more than you'd use for shampoo alone. You can always add a bit more if needed, and thorough rinsing is key.
-
How often can I use New Wash?New Wash can be used every day without harming the scalp or hair, since it is 100% detergent-free and cleanses gently. Many people find that over time their scalps produce less excess oil and they naturally go longer between washes. Whether a client prefers to wash daily or less frequently, any schedule works well with New Wash.
-
Is New Wash suitable for clients with sensitive scalps or skin conditions like contact dermatitis?Hairstory's New Wash is not a medical-grade product, so no clinical claims can be made. However, because it is completely detergent-free, it cleanses in a much gentler way than traditional shampoos, which use detergents that bond aggressively to water and can strip the scalp. Many customers with skin sensitivities, contact dermatitis, and scalp conditions have reported that New Wash does not aggravate their symptoms or cause flare-ups, and their experiences can be found in product reviews.
-
How much commission do Hairstory Pro affiliates earn?Hairstory Pro affiliates earn 25% commission on every sale made through their personal client referral link. Clients only need to use the link once to be connected to the pro permanently — even if they forget to use the link on future purchases, the system will recognize them as that pro's client and issue the commission automatically for life.
-
How do Hairstory Pro hairdressers find and share their affiliate link?Once a pro account is activated, hairdressers can log in and navigate to the affiliate dashboard tab, where their client referral link is listed beneath their commission totals. The link can be copied and sent directly to clients, shared on social media, added to an Instagram bio, or distributed as a QR code — which Hairstory's onboarding team can provide — so clients can scan it directly at the chair.
-
What do clients get when they use a Hairstory hairdresser's referral link?Clients receive 15% off their first purchase when they use their hairdresser's personal referral link. After that first use, they are linked to that pro permanently, giving them the flexibility to shop online whenever they want while still supporting their hairdresser — even when they are not physically in the salon.
