Hi.

Welcome to my blog. I document my adventures in travel, style, and food. Hope you have a nice stay!

Eliza Canto is from a small town in the mountains of North Carolina and works in corporate social responsibility and philanthropy. She came across Hairstory and New Wash searching for products with sustainable qualities, and became an adherent to the philosophy of our brand. She came to the Studio wanting a very short, liberating, and low-maintenance cut. Her silver hair is a family trademark; all started to go gray as teenagers.

Oakley Boycott is an actor and activist whose story we’ve followed for some time now. This year, she armored herself with the color silver from head to toe to deflect negativity and the overwhelming energy of New York City.

Ella Chodos-Irvine is our graphic designer here at Hairstory Studio, a recent graduate of Pratt Institute, Seattle native, and willing model. Her color is an interpretation of pearlescence, or the shimmer of oil floating on water by Roxie Darling. See Ella’s design portfolio at ellaci.com.

Liz Wray is the rare actor whose aspirations do not include television or film. For them, the stage is the thing, and for a stage performer, New York is the place. They take the long view when it comes to hair, and prefers quite short cuts and the unpredictable journey as they grow out.

Amelia Plummer writes on her tumblr profile: “You can find me quoting Tarantino, drinking Coca-cola, jamming out to dad music, and hanging out with my kitty Ziggy Stardust.” Visit her online boutique Amelia Stardust for second-hand selections, socially-conscious tees, cosmetics, jewelry, and, “hand-picked treasures.” Her choice of blue hair color is a statement of political allegiance more than a fashion statement; watch for more on this subject soon.

Marti Ragan is a model currently based in Los Angeles, but still comes to our New York our studio for hair updates when she’s in town. She’s a fierce defender of natural hair for black women, and speaks passionately about afros in America here

Monique Baron, photographer, is a perfect example of a modern take on a classic shape: A graduated bob was cut with a razor to create movement, and styled to imperfection with generous amounts of product.

Maggie Miller is a writer working in digital marketing who bought a one-way ticket in 2015 to New York via Arizona and her native Detroit. She loves her eyes (so do we) and she’s always up for taking a risk with her hair – as long as it doesn’t hide them. She is thrilled to have found Wes (finding a hair guru in a new city isn’t always easy) and since she is hyper-allergic to preservatives, she is equally happy to have discovered New Wash.
