On the Street: Crops & Color
The summer hair buzz is just that: a short-short crop as a canvas for color. Cara Delevingne, Kristen Stewart, Zoë Kravitz and Katy Perry have been shorn and bleached recently; cultural theorists call it a sign of the rise of feminism in America and a “GI Jane” show of strength. Hairdressing pragmatists simply call it a casualty of over-enthusiastic bleaching. Hairstory client Janell Hickman (featured in a New York Post trend story) was simply tired of spending over $200 a month at the salon. First came the chop, and then came the fun: Champagne pink, butter blonde, platinum.
Whatever their reasons, the women pictured here look confident and super-cool (in both senses of the word).
